Its been very long since I posted somethin or anything on this blog so I'm finally reviving it.So anyways, to start of this holidays have been really boring and yet productive.Interesting right?Let me explain to you the boring part first.Since these holidays are almost immediately after the mid year examinations our parents expect us to revise through all our subjects and hopefully be prepared for the next semester. However being a normal teen, I did not want to start of my holiday by studying. So I decided to go on a shopping spree with my cousins.Eventhough I enjoyed myself to the maximum, all fun HAS to come to an end right?Well so it did. After a few days slacking at home, I decided I had to do somethin useful and productive! So reluctantly I started doing all my homework and finished it all within a week.So I decided to revise a bit and just slack somemore. So after all my hardwork, I felt as if i deserved a break.Immediately I called up my cousins and friends and made appointments to go out and watch a movie. We enjoyed ourselves and cracked jokes and had dinner together. Also we decided to have a family gathering with lots of food,FUN and movies! So we all contributed by cooking whatever we could and enjoyed our day! So besides that, I was just staying at home and OH YA! I went for my first ever hip hop dancing class and learnt a few new cool steps! Also I went for my badminton training and caught up with my team mates. So besides that.My holiday was just a normal one:P
Every year chong boon holds a annual camp for all levels. The lower secondary students stay in school and participate in exciting activities planned by the teachers and the upper secondary students get an opportunity to venture out of school bounds and stay at a government authorised camp site. This year things were done a bit differently as my school wanted its students to experience the world outside school. This time round the upper secondary students, being the SENIORS, had a choice of going to the camp in Singapore or the one organised in Malaysia. Many of us were enthusiastic about this new experience awaiting us.However only some of us were chosen to go.And eventhough I was one of the selected few,I did not want to leave my friends and have fun in malaysia all by myself.Hence I decided to stay in Singapore. The days flew past and the camp was just around the corner. After packing my bag,I started thinking on how much I'm miss all the facilities at home.I had an early night so as to not be all so droopy in the morning. The next day, we met all our instructors and headed for the campsite.Along the entrance of the campsite,we saw many high elements and we were all tickled pink!We were looking forward to the interesting activities lined up for us. After alighting the bus we were seperated into our respective groups and were sent to our bunks. We had a quick change of clothes and headed towards the assembly area. All the groups started off with ice breaking games and we were instructed to come up with a group name and a group flag.We came up with a very unique name of UNDERDOGS.It was approximately 1 pm in the afternoon and we started doing our high element activites. With a huge fear of height i surprised myself when I came forward and attempted the absailing activity. And soon after we had lunch. After lunch we had a lot of time to prepare for our camp fire item and we decided to dance for a NEW and HIP song.We had the best dancers from our class to come up with the dance. And as the time flew by it was soon night and we had a night study activity which wasn't as boring as expected. The next day we were very excited as we had a canoeing activity planned for us.It was almost ruined by the unexpected downpour. However we managed to overcome the weather and went canoeing. It was indeed a very very scary experience but a REAL good one.Soon after night came and the much anticipated camp fire was next.We were all excited and looking forward to our turn. The night was young and we were enjoying ourselves ALOT!Everything has to come to an end and so did this. The next day arrived and we were all set to go home.On our journey back to school we caught up on some lost sleep and had cool dreams on our exciting 3days.
It has always been my dream to be an Early Childhood Educator. Some inquisitive minds may ask why that is so, well I have my reasons for my choosing it. Since young, I have always been fascinated by my mother who is an Early Childhood Educator herself, she has always been bubbly interactive and creative with the kids, and most importantly my mom was satisfied with the various roles she played and the results of educating the young minds. After touring my mother’s living hood, I have my own philosophy for my chosen field, as I do not wish to be a typical teacher but a creative, lovable and having the ability to enrich the young minds.
When I began to develop a passion for this job I was astonished with the amount of responsibilities required .Before gaining knowledge from my mother, I always thought that being an Early Childhood Educator only required one to teach the children simple subjects. However, I was taken back by the amount of responsibilities that an Early Childhood Educator needs to take on. For example, one has to be a facilitator, care-giver, educator, nuturer, learner, reflector and a motivator. After being aware of all these responsibilities, my passion grew stronger and deeper.
I feel that my philosophy of Early Childhood Education is greatly child-centered education. There should be a great focus on the importance of play. As it provides children the opportunity to discover, manipulate and to interact with the environmnet. It motivates children to explore, discover, create and encourages them to take risks as it adds to their understanding of the world. Moreover, it confronts the chidlren to accomplish new levels of people around them, events, and the environment by interacting with concrete materials. It allows them to experiment the world them and the emotional world within them.
Even though, I have my own philosophy in this field, it is not as easy as you think to qualify for this job, one should at least hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. One can also upgrade onself to a higher level in the field by either holding a Bachelor Degree or Masters. Even though I aspire to be an Early Childhood Educator, I would always like to upgrade myself and one day I wish to be either a a Director of a Childcare Centre or a Speech Pathologist. I want to open my very own speech therapy centre and finally it is my dream to promote good speech amongst young children.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that to be an innovative and an inspiring Early Childhood Educator one has to have the passion towards children. I know that I have been putting in my fair share of commitment in working hard to achieve my goal. So far, I have read up on the common duties and various other aspects of Early Childhood Education. In addition, I am aware that if I work harder academically, I will achieve my dream of becoming an Early Childhood Educator!
Rules. What are rules anyways?Well basically rules are statements that control people and tell them how to behave. In schools rules play a very important role in maintaining order and peace.Usually in schools, the Principal and the discipline committee comes up with the rules. These rules are then carried down generation after generation.Just like any schools' tradition my school,CBSS has its own respective which are in my opinion very good ones. This is because it helps make sure that everyone in school is served justice in times of crisis.Like for example when one of our students get into a fight with someone they will be coucilled by our school's councillors and will be prevented from getting into other problems in the future. Also other minor rules such as proper haircuts for boys and girls ensures that CBSS students will always maintain a good first impression of our school. Not forgetting the fact that it also makes the students feel a sense of pride when wearing their uniform. Also a harsher rule implemented was the public canning for discipline cases that goes too out of hand.I think that this rule is a very reasonable one as not all problems can be solved with just warnings that don't make a difference. Also i think that the rule that states that handphones cannot be used within school compounds can be altered.Because in my point of view i think that handphones should be allowed even within school compound but after official school hours which in my case is 1.45.And im sure that my fellow chongboonites will be understanding enough to coperate with the teachers and make sure they restrain from using their handphones during school hours! So i feel that the current school rules are GREAT but,one or two of them can be slightly altered!
Chinese New Year, this is a festival that occurs in the midst of february.Eventhough i am not a chinese i think that the CNY celebreation is a great way for everyone to create or strengthen bonds within the family, friends. This can be achieved through the 4 day holiday given to everyone due to CNY.In this holiday the chinese families get together and have a reunion dinner.During this dinner everyone in the family from any corner of the world will come back to singapore to have this special moment with their loved ones. This i think is a great way to show that we all still love each other and it doesnt depend on where we live. For me, i use the CNY holidays as a time to catch up on my homework and studies. Also in my free time i spend ALOT of time with my family and my close relatives. We use this a great opportunity to lay back and relax.During the previous CNY holiday,we made a visit to the zoo and enjoyed ourselves to a GREAT extent. We had a mini picnic and later went for a family dinner at a nearby restaurant. Also my friends and i caught up on the lastest movies we were missing. We had a very pleasurable time! And we are all waiting for the next holiday besides the one now, because the current march holidays dont even seen like one.Its school all the way. But,it's ok.We still have a couple of days more to enjoy!
Getting to go on the Singapore flyer was an unforgettable experience that will stay with me till i pass on.Firstly I am going to share the expectations i had before the ride.As my teacher announced a week before the excursion to the flyer,my classmated and i were all tickled pink with excitement as we were already wanting an opportunity for outdoor learning. My classmates exitpected the flyer to be like a normal replica of the ferris wheel. And so did i.Also i expected the ride to be a bit scary due to my phobia of heights that kicks in usually when I am at high points of a building or anything else for that matter.
So even though i was excited,i still had a tiny bit of fear hidden deep inside me that i didn't show so obviously as compared to my fellow classmate rasheed! Also as the teachers said,i expected to have a magnificent bird's eye view of singapore from the flyer. The much aniticipated day had come and I was looking forward to the terrifying experience that awaited me.We were given basic instructions such as to maintain silence as it was a public place with booming amounts of tourists from all around the world. Also we had to go through a security check that was kinda cool.So after much much delay,we finally got into one of the huge capsules that was moving constantly without stopping for people to board. This factor scared the wits out of me.Wild thoughts started running through my head but i just shaked it out.And so,the flyer slowly moved up and the tension was rising.Slowly the scenery of the surrounding sky scrapers could be seen.Followed by the singapore river and many other sites that were simply breathtaking!I felt as if my phobia had melted after seeing the bewildering surrounding. The whole capsule was overwhemled serenity as my classmates and i were awed by what we were seeing.Even though we were not able to see the whole of singapore, what we could see to our eye's extend was equivalent to that.As we reached the top, that was the most memorable experience of the whole trip. The view was so much better and i felt like i was on top of the world!Mainly the floating stage, sinapore river and the sky scrapers caught my attention. And i knew that seeing these places on land would be VERY different. So i felt deeply that my expectations were met and the ride itself was even better!Eventhough the ride was great, one memorable incident in the capsule itself was when we had to measure the height and length of the capsule.Instead of using smart methods,we used our classmate as a measuring instrument which was HILARIOUS!Finally i recommend this flyer to anyone and everyone as this is actually a wonderful way to get rid of heights.I definately think that this IS a ride worth going as the scenery is very very very wonderful and i wouldn't mind going on it again and again and again!
while scientific progress on new technology has a great potenial to increase our understanding of nature and provide new medical tools it should not be used as a justification to turn our enviroment into a giant scientific experiment by commercial interests. The bio diversity and enviromental integrity of the world is too important to our survival to be risked. The economic development of the world may also depend on the new technology. However only countries that can afford the new gizmos and gadgets can benefit from it.While the other less fortunate countries can’t benefit from the new technology will be deprived greatly as they do not gain anything and only loose more from their environment.
Also in the current world,in my point of view, many new inventions are coming up. And these inventions cause our treasured environment to pay the price for the harmful effects done by the people in the process of creating the inventions. Also the excessive greenhouse gas emission causes the ozone layer to constantly deplete. This will cause global warming and global warming causes many deathly effects such as high sea levels and melting of ice sheets which will result in floods. In my view I think that new technology poses a threat to mankind compared to the promise it provides us with.
