Chong Boon School Rules!!!
Wednesday, March 12, 2008

Rules. What are rules anyways?Well basically rules are statements that control people and tell them how to behave. In schools rules play a very important role in maintaining order and peace.Usually in schools, the Principal and the discipline committee comes up with the rules. These rules are then carried down generation after generation.Just like any schools' tradition my school,CBSS has its own respective which are in my opinion very good ones. This is because it helps make sure that everyone in school is served justice in times of crisis.Like for example when one of our students get into a fight with someone they will be coucilled by our school's councillors and will be prevented from getting into other problems in the future. Also other minor rules such as proper haircuts for boys and girls ensures that CBSS students will always maintain a good first impression of our school. Not forgetting the fact that it also makes the students feel a sense of pride when wearing their uniform. Also a harsher rule implemented was the public canning for discipline cases that goes too out of hand.I think that this rule is a very reasonable one as not all problems can be solved with just warnings that don't make a difference. Also i think that the rule that states that handphones cannot be used within school compounds can be altered.Because in my point of view i think that handphones should be allowed even within school compound but after official school hours which in my case is 1.45.And im sure that my fellow chongboonites will be understanding enough to coperate with the teachers and make sure they restrain from using their handphones during school hours! So i feel that the current school rules are GREAT but,one or two of them can be slightly altered!

CNY-What does it mean to me?
Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Chinese New Year, this is a festival that occurs in the midst of february.Eventhough i am not a chinese i think that the CNY celebreation is a great way for everyone to create or strengthen bonds within the family, friends. This can be achieved through the 4 day holiday given to everyone due to CNY.In this holiday the chinese families get together and have a reunion dinner.During this dinner everyone in the family from any corner of the world will come back to singapore to have this special moment with their loved ones. This i think is a great way to show that we all still love each other and it doesnt depend on where we live. For me, i use the CNY holidays as a time to catch up on my homework and studies. Also in my free time i spend ALOT of time with my family and my close relatives. We use this a great opportunity to lay back and relax.During the previous CNY holiday,we made a visit to the zoo and enjoyed ourselves to a GREAT extent. We had a mini picnic and later went for a family dinner at a nearby restaurant. Also my friends and i caught up on the lastest movies we were missing. We had a very pleasurable time! And we are all waiting for the next holiday besides the one now, because the current march holidays dont even seen like one.Its school all the way. But,it's ok.We still have a couple of days more to enjoy!

THE SINGAPORE FLYER!!!
Monday, March 10, 2008

Getting to go on the Singapore flyer was an unforgettable experience that will stay with me till i pass on.Firstly I am going to share the expectations i had before the ride.As my teacher announced a week before the excursion to the flyer,my classmated and i were all tickled pink with excitement as we were already wanting an opportunity for outdoor learning. My classmates exitpected the flyer to be like a normal replica of the ferris wheel. And so did i.Also i expected the ride to be a bit scary due to my phobia of heights that kicks in usually when I am at high points of a building or anything else for that matter.
So even though i was excited,i still had a tiny bit of fear hidden deep inside me that i didn't show so obviously as compared to my fellow classmate rasheed! Also as the teachers said,i expected to have a magnificent bird's eye view of singapore from the flyer. The much aniticipated day had come and I was looking forward to the terrifying experience that awaited me.We were given basic instructions such as to maintain silence as it was a public place with booming amounts of tourists from all around the world. Also we had to go through a security check that was kinda cool.So after much much delay,we finally got into one of the huge capsules that was moving constantly without stopping for people to board. This factor scared the wits out of me.Wild thoughts started running through my head but i just shaked it out.And so,the flyer slowly moved up and the tension was rising.Slowly the scenery of the surrounding sky scrapers could be seen.Followed by the singapore river and many other sites that were simply breathtaking!I felt as if my phobia had melted after seeing the bewildering surrounding. The whole capsule was overwhemled serenity as my classmates and i were awed by what we were seeing.Even though we were not able to see the whole of singapore, what we could see to our eye's extend was equivalent to that.As we reached the top, that was the most memorable experience of the whole trip. The view was so much better and i felt like i was on top of the world!Mainly the floating stage, sinapore river and the sky scrapers caught my attention. And i knew that seeing these places on land would be VERY different. So i felt deeply that my expectations were met and the ride itself was even better!Eventhough the ride was great, one memorable incident in the capsule itself was when we had to measure the height and length of the capsule.Instead of using smart methods,we used our classmate as a measuring instrument which was HILARIOUS!Finally i recommend this flyer to anyone and everyone as this is actually a wonderful way to get rid of heights.I definately think that this IS a ride worth going as the scenery is very very very wonderful and i wouldn't mind going on it again and again and again!
